FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What will my KOHLER residential generator power?
You will initially select the number of circuits you want to protect in your home, and match it to the appropriate KOHLER generator system. You'll then connect the automatic transfer switch to the circuits in your home's main distribution panel. Everything on each circuit you selected will be protected.

Why should I buy an automatic standby generator instead of a portable generator?
Portable generators DO supply power, but automatic standby generators produce more and higher quality electricity. In addition, they are automatic when the power comes out; there is no need to turn it "on or off". Because of this, they protect your home whether you are there or away. There are no gas tanks to fill since they run on your home's existing fuel source.

Do they have to be maintained?
Yes. Our KOHLER generators need oil and filter changes periodically. Hathaway Generators does offer maintenance plans for routine maintenance requirements at a low cost.

How do I select a generator that’s right for me?
To eliminate the need for an electrician to come to your home, KOHLER allows you to simply match your generator system to the existing circuits in your electrical panel that you'd like to protect during a power outage.

How long does it take to install an automatic standby generator?
KOHLER generators take approximately 8 hours to completely install the system's electrical and gas connections. They come pre-mounted and pre-wired for simple installation.
